WHAT IS THE WEB DESIGN PROCESS?

PURPOSE

In this initial stage we work with you to identify the end goal of the website design. Questions to explore include:

  • Who is the site for?
  • What do you want it to achieve?
  • What do users expect to find or do there?
  • Is this website’s primary aim to inform, to sell, promote?
  • What competitor sites, if any, exist, and how should this site be inspired by/different than, those competitors?

02.

SCOPE

This stage defines the extent of the finished site and ensures the client objectives can be met within an agreed budget and time-frame. It establishes what work is needed and who is responsible for delivering it. For larger projects we suggest using Gantt chart to map progress.

03.

SITE-MAP & WIREFRAME

This stage lays out the foundational structure of the site and shows how information and functionalities are linked and inter-related.

CONTENT CREATION

Whether you are using text, imagery or video, always remember it is there to communicate a message or tell a story. If it the information is not supporting the goals of your site then leave it out. Content serves two essential purposes:

  • First, content engages readers and drives them to take the actions necessary to fulfil a site’s goals. This is affected by both the content itself (the writing), and how it’s presented (the typography and structural elements).
  • Content also boosts a site’s visibility for search engines. The practice of creation and improving content to rank well in search is known as search engine optimization, or SEO.

  • Imagery: Relevant imagery reinforces branding, guides user navigation, and helps establish a connection between the audience and the website’s content. It can  include photography, illustrations, animations, graphic elements and iconography.
  • Tone of voice:  This sets the overall personality and style of a website’s content. It shapes the way users perceive and interact with the brand, influencing their emotions, trust, and engagement.

BUILD

The site will be build and hosted in Webflow. It allows us to design, build, and collaborate all in one place. It allows us to switch between the Designer mode (to design and construct the site), or the Editor mode, which allows clients to write and edit content directly on each web page.

TEST - LAUNCH - REVIEW

We will check the site on a variety of devices and browsers. Once everything’s working beautifully, we can launch the site. It’s essential to check back in at regular intervals as your business grows or changes to review the site and ensure the site is still matching your goals.
